PROPERTY MANAGMENT MOBILE APP

I created the UI/UX design for this Android app and worked with four developer friends to create it.
Responsibilities: UI/UX Design

Introduction

This was a side project that I worked on with four friends who are developers. This was a mobile app to help landlords manage their properties, including tracking all of their expenses and income earned from their properties.

Design Thinking Approach

We followed a design-centered process to solicit user's need and conducted user-centered research. As with the previous project, we tried several similar Apps on the market, listed what we saw as strengths and weaknesses and then interviewed some friends and colleagues. After this, we then brainstormed different ideas, developed prototypes and conducted tests to validate our approach.

Interviews

Highlights from our interviews are included below.

Joleen
It would be great to have a solid mobile app to track my properties’ income and expenses.
Peter
I’ve tried almost all the FREE apps for this kind of thing on the market but none of them fit my needs.
Tiffany
I would love to try it for my own properties if there’s a good one.
Jason
It is so complicated to manage your own properties when you have multiple.
Jimmy
I spend hours to track all my expenses or revenue every week.
Judy
I'm using an excel file to keep track of my properties and would love to have one app to make tracking them easier.

What we learned from the research

  1. People have yet to find a good property management app which is free.
  2. People are still using their own makeshift methods to manage their properties.
  3. People want to switch from their own tools to a mobile app.

Wireframe and mockup

I created and tested wireframes to make sure the functions and flow are clear and easy to use.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT MOBILE APP

Working with the CEO and other stakeholders, I helped bring their product ideas to life, creating detailed wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes. Created this product and design guideline from 0 to 1 in phase 1.
